We all have a story built moment by moment - the beautiful memories filled with joy, the waiting for dreams to be brought to life, the grief that comes through hard times, and the faith that grounds it all. Every season is significant presenting us with opportunities to grow.
Our family’s wellness journey began in 2013 when just a few short months after we were married, Derek became extremely sick, eventually diagnosed with a chronic illness. In a matter of moments, our whole life shifted away from what we thought it was going to be like into something new - a new reality that we never saw coming.
The last few years have been the most challenging . They have brought us to our knees over and over, redefining and pruning our faith and values. In 2020, we decided to make major changes to prioritize our family in a whole new way, leading us to uprooting our family, moving states and planting new seeds on a small midwest homestead. Although it is sometimes incredibly challenging and far from perfect, we live a more beautiful life than we could have imagined - flaws and all. You see, we have to choose to see the beauty that is buried under the dirt of life. Each and every day we have a choice to make life happen, even in the midst of the hard.
Admiral Acres was created out of the desire to speak life into families every day, right where they are at in life. What started as a dream for wide open spaces to run, a garden to grow healthy foods, and a chicken or two, has turned into a full mission dedicated to creating community and helping families see the beauty and blessings in wholly living in every season. The admiral butterfly can be spotted frequently while exploring our property in the warmer months, and is known as a symbol of transformation + renewal. We have experienced a lot of highs and lows in the last 10 years since that original diagnosis and truly believe He makes all things new.
Combining Derek’s passion for video production through Admiral Studios + Holly’s artistic eye and love for things that grow, we hope to share our adventures as we grow our family, flowers, and food to inspire you to dig in, try new things, and step out of your comfort zone along with us!
